Audible Vs Spotify for Audiobooks

I’ve been an Audible subscriber for years and have built up quite a decent library of listens. Recently we upgraded Spotify to Spotify Duo. On this plan you get 15 hours of audiobook listening time from their catalogue of books.

Currently I am running both Audible and Spotify, but I thought it was about time to get rid of one of these monthly payments.

So, which one is better? Audible or Spotify for Audiobooks?

Audible

• Large catalogue of audiobooks
• Exclusive audiobooks
• £7.99 a month
• Decent sales on credits
• Podcasts on here too
• One book a month no matter if it is 2 hours or 22 hours long

Spotify

• Music
• Podcasts
• £16.99 a month for two members
• You don’t commit to one book, you get 15 hours from their catalogue. This means you can dip in and out and listen alongside reading the physical book
• If you can’t get into the book you choose, sack it off and start another without having to commit

I still can’t decide which is my favourite option. I have decided to keep both… for Audible I downgraded to the £5.99 a month option. I easily can get through two books a month so Audible alone isn’t quite enough.

Other ways to listen to Audiobooks:

• The library! You download the app your local library uses then you can access all their audiobooks. For the popular ones there is usually a wait. Don’t be put off by this, join the waiting list as often they become available much sooner. If you’re not ready for it when it comes in you can defer it to the next person.
• Apple Books. You can get single books on here with no subscription. If you struggle to get through one book a month, this might be a better option for you. Or if you only listen on holidays and don’t want to commit to a monthly option.
