In our house, I’m the one who does the packing. It’s like an olympic event. Of course there’s the manual labour of packing the car, but there’s also the mental load that starts a few weeks before the trip. I start making mental lists. Then physical lists. Then I start little piles. I start getting bits we need in the shopping…
It’s a process.
When I was packing for Centre Parcs, I had a long list and I almost remembered to pack everything (except the babies swimsuit! Thankfully the shop here sold one… £25 later.)
However, there were somethings that I hadn’t known to pack for Centre Parcs and things I wish I had.
Here’s my list of things you should pack for Centre Parcs – that you might not have thought of!
1. Your own mug

If you’re are a tea or coffee drinker, the little cups here won’t satisfy your morning brew. When we came before our friends brought their own mugs and if I’m honest, I thought it was odd. But, after spending 5 days drinking tiny, unsatisfying cups of coffee, I completely get it.
2. Slippers or Sliders

The floors in the rooms are hard wood. If you’re used to wearing slippers at home, or if you hate getting wet socks, bring indoor shoes. Sliders, Crocs, slippers.
3. Washing powder
There’s no washing machine in the rooms, however, you could do a little handwash. The baby has already pooped up two vests and I only have three with me. The girls also got really muddy in the park and needed some clothes washed out.
4. Washing up liquid

They give you a little sachet of washing up liquid and three dishwasher tablets. You’ll need more if you’re having more than just breakfast and drinks at home.
5. Anti bac spray
There are cloths to wipe the sides, and maybe water is enough. But I think if I was preparing meals here I’d like a spray for the sides.
6. Tassimo pods

Yep. Tassimo. You know the coffee machines everyone owned in the 00s? That’s what they have here. Buy some pods before you come if you plan on using it. They only supply you with two pods and two teabags.
7. Bin bags and food waste bags
They give you one food bag and one food waste bag. If you are having lots of meals in the cabin, and have children who seem to eat one bite and change their minds, bring extra bags.
8. Duvet
Okay. This is an extreme option. If it was just me and Matt coming and I had endless space in the car, I think I’d bring my own duvet. The ones here are so noisy! They’re also thicker than I like and quite heavy. Maybe a sleeping bag could have been an option.
9. Pool towels
You’ll need towels for the pool. You can hire them, but you can’t use the ones from the room.
10. Scales and any unique cooking kit
I weighed out everything I needed for cooking so I didn’t have to bring the scales. However, I did need a whisk which wasn’t included in the room. A fork did the trick, but the Mac and cheese was at lump risk with that approach.
