Cheap party bag idea

Cheap party bag idea

With three little ones, I go to lots of kids parties.

We leave most of the parties with a bag full of goodies. We’ve had some great loot in some, and some plastic stuff that breaks on the way home in others.

These party bags can add significant cost to the party shenanigans.

With a party on the horizon, I’ve thought of a cheap little way to give everyone a party gift that isn’t going to mean the parents have tat to get rid of.

Sweetie cones.

We have 20 guests coming to the party.

I got a pack of 30 cones from eBay for £2.50.

I then brought sweets from the corner shop, but I could have got them cheaper from a cash and carry or somewhere like B and M bargains. But I like supporting the local.

Here’s what I got

  • Millions x 2 (£3)
  • 150g gummy bears (£1.25)
  • Giant marshmallows x 2 (£2.50)
  • Jazzies (50p)
  • Massive tube of smarties (£2)
  • Twirl bites (£1.15)
  • Squashies (£2.50)

Total – £12.90

So for each party bag it is £0.77p

My approach was cheap sweets of various sizes. The millions went first, then the sweets got bigger. Ideally you want a bulky item to go at the top – like giant marshmallows.

The only waste we have here is the plastic packaging from the sweets and the plastic cone. Which I hope people will recycle with soft plastics.

Other ideas I’ve seen lately that won’t break the bank-

  • Books (10 for £10 at the Works)
  • Cupcakes
  • Giant lollies
  • Popcorn cones
