In 2023, I went to Butlin’s with my two girls and husband. In 2024, I went to Bognor Regis Butlin’s.
We went for Minehead for our first trip because I thought it was closer. With two kids in the car, closeness was key. We live in Oxfordshire and I imagined that it was near Gloucester. I was wrong. Three and a half hours later, across the slowest road in history, we made it.
Anyway, in this post, I’m going to look at Butlin’s Minehead Vs Butlin’s Bognor Regis.

The Accommodation in Minehead
In Butlin’s Minehead we stayed in an apartment. It had two bedrooms, a kitchen, shower wet room, kitchen and a lounge.
It was in a two-story apartment block. It sort of felt like we were in a really run down estate. The apartments next to our block were closed for refurbishment, which they really were in need of.
A little further down and away from the main site, there was a big pond with cute chalets surrounding it. These are clearly the premium option. Looked lovely.
The room we stayed in wasn’t very clean. 5/10 I’d give it. There was a can of cider under the bed and hair clips all over the floor. The shower had a hair hanging from it and I just couldn’t get past it.
The Accommodation in Bognor
Bognor Regis was a world away from the apartment in Minehead. We stayed in the Wave hotel. It had a cute little bunkbed room, a bathroom, and a double bed. Our friends had a balcony! Another had a kitchen in the hotel room.
It was so clean, too. And we had a chamber maid service three times during the week.
Really couldn’t fault it.
My husband went to a stag do in Bognor Butlin’s and stayed In the apartments. He said they were much nicer and more modern compared to Minehead.

To be honest, there’s not much difference between Butlin’s Minehead and Bognor Regis when it comes to facilities and entertainment. It’s sort of a copy and paste job.
Which I guess is the point. You know what you’re getting.
Minehead’s indoor rides are in a big shed thing, where as Bognor’s indoor rides are in the main pavilion. Other than that, there’s not a huge amount of difference between what’s there.
Swimming in Minehead Butlin’s Vs Bognor Butlin’s
Swimming – Minehead
The swimming pool in Minehead is the same as it was when I went when I was 7. I’m now 33.
There are flumes, the bowl slide, and dingy slides. There’s rapids, a wave pool, and a big pool that looks like you could do a length in but no one does. Then there’s a little splash pool with a couple of toddler slides.
The changing room has a drying room, which is well with £1.
If you go in the summer, you can make use of the outdoor pool, too.
Swimming – Bognor Regis
The swimming pool here is just a few years old. A huge investment for Butlin’s Bognor. There are new slides, flumes, a splash pool, toddler slides, rapids that run outside, and a Jacuzzi. Oh, and a wave pool.
It’s very bright and seaside themed. Though I’ve got to say, I love the rapids you can take the toddlers around in their rubber rings. Only swimmers can go in the outdoor rapids.

Food – Minehead
In Minehead, there are the restaurants included in the plan, then a few additional extras. Papa Johns, Burger King, Costa, Phat Pasty, Fish and Chips.
Food – Bognor
Bognor has the restaurants included in the plan, and extras. Papa Johns, Chopstix, Subway, Beachcomber Inn, Firehouse, Burger King, The Diner, Fish and Chips.
I had a better experience of food at Butlin’s Minehead because we had the premium dining plan. In Bognor, we had the budget. Read about my thoughts on dining plans in Butlin’s.
Outside the bubble of Butlin’s Minehead Vs Bognor
We didn’t venture too far when we went to each Butlin’s. But, we did go to the beach.
The beach at Minehead is sand and shingle. Bognor is pebble.
The beach is really easy to access from both sites. It’s nice to get away for a few hours as the holiday park is pretty noisy!
When I was younger, we went to Cheddar Gorge for the day when we were at Minehead. This was devastating for us as kids as we wanted to stay with the noise and not strong cheese. Stonehenge isn’t too far either.
If you’re in Bognor, you’re just over an hour away from Paulton’s Park and Pepa Pig World.
What’s the verdict? Bognor Regis Butlin’s Vs Minehead Butlin’s
For me, Bognor was better.
This mainly came down to the accommodation. It was clean and tidy. Something you want when you’re sleeping away from home.
The pool at Minehead was old, but the outdoor pool and the rapids are classics.
What I’d say, is go to the one closest to you. If you’re travelling with young kids, just go to the closest one.
Bognor is more modern, and has investment with a new indoor activity centre coming soon. But Minehead is fine.
Choose the shorter car journey.
Choose less stress.
