Review: Lynx Gym Toddler Class

Lynx Gym in Aylesbury seems to be a hidden gem.

I tell so many people and they have no idea it exists.

I thought I’d write a quick review of Lynx Gym Toddler Class (Playwithme) so you know what you’re going into, and what to expect. This is something I always need to do as I like to know the possible escape routes and if I could manage it on my own with two.

Review

Entering the gym you’re welcomed by two friendly faces. One of the ladies is always smiling. You know when someone just has a face that seems to beam. That’s her.

Maybe it’s working somewhere with a glittery floor. It’s bound to brighten your mood.

After paying your £6.50 per child, and additional £3 for a post session lunchbox (if you want it, but they never push it), you take off your shoes and lock up your stuff.

At this point there’s usually a trip to the toilet. Because it’s a new place, it’s a new toilet and a new lock mechanism to try out. Nothing more exciting than starting your gymnastics session with the thrill of being locked in a toilet and unable to get out.

Through the double doors is the most incredible floor. Arguably better than the glitter floor of the reception.

I never did gymnastics so this was a brand new experience, and I’m here for it. Springy, soft. Feels like you’re walking on a Mario and Luigi bouncy mushroom IRL.

Once you’re over the initial excitement of the epic floor, you see everything else that has been carefully set up. While it’s all parent led, you can see how children who go here get to practice gymnastic skills, coordination and balance. As I said, I didn’t do gymnastics, so I’ll get all the names wrong here. But here goes. At the gym you can try:

  • A high swing attached to the ceiling
  • Beams
  • A fast track
  • Gymnastic bars
  • Foam pits for soft landing
  • Crash mats
  • Ride on toys
  • A large trampoline
  • A bouncy castle with a slide
  • An obstacle course
  • Small slide

For £6.50 you get quite a lot to try. And two hours to do it in.

At around 11/1115 everyone comes together for a few songs. All the kids get sticks to tap together, which they love. And so do I. Something very satisfying about the feel of them.

Everyone naturally leaves after this, well we do anyway.

Lynx gym toddler session review

The girls absolutely love it here. It’s fun, active and feels like you’re teaching them something through play. In the week it’s not too busy. Today there were around 15-20 children, which isn’t may for the huge building.

TIPS:

  • Take snacks (obviously)
  • Take drinks
  • Make sure the kids are in layers. It’s either really hot in there or really cold
  • No need to book, except in school holidays
